Marina

Bookended by the Golden Gate Bridge to the south and Fort Mason to the north, the upscale Marina District stretches along the waterfront. One of the city’s most coveted zip codes, the area attracts many young families. It’s also a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts.  Runners, dog-walkers and cyclists take to Crissy Field’s bayside trails and vast grass lawns while sailors, windsurfers and other watersports junkies ply San Francisco Bay. The San Francisco Yacht Club is located here, as are the Fort Mason Center for Arts and Culture and the Palace of Fine Arts. Busy Chestnut Street offers a myriad of shopping, dining and entertainment choices.

The Marina District is also the birthplace of one of San Francisco’s most distinctive and charming types of homes: the Marina-style house. Harmonious rows of these compact, flat-roofed stucco abodes constructed in the 1920s mingle with elegant multi-unit Art Decos.
