Japantown

Japantown is like a modern Asian village in the middle of San Francisco. From busy Japan Center--a shopping mecca for all things Japanese--to the Peace Plaza with its giant pagoda spiraling into the sky, this neighborhood’s distinctive vibe will make  you feel as if you’ve left the Bay Area far behind.  Yet all the amenities of the big city are still at your fingertips. If you’re a movie fan, you’ll love Japantown’s luxurious Dine-In Kabuki 8 theater. Each spring,  you can join the thousands of locals and visitors who come to Japantown to watch the annual Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival, one of the largest celebrations of Asian culture in the country.

Housing around the area, which borders the Fillmore District and Lower Pac Heights, includes contemporary multi-unit buildings and traditional Victorians.
